PartyOnTube

Privacy policy

Updated 17 September 2026. Applies to partyontube.com and the PartyOnTube apps.

Who is responsible

Icey AB, organisation number 556968-8913, is responsible for PartyOnTube’s processing of personal data. Contact hello@icey.se or write to Icey AB, Marmorgatan 11, 118 67 Stockholm, Sweden.

Your account and playlists

We use your email address to send one-time login links and identify your account. We store your display name, account identifier, saved and joined playlists, video links and titles, votes, roles and playlist contributions to provide the service you request. Guests can join with a playlist code and display name. Your email address is not shown to other playlist participants.

People with access to a playlist can see its content and participants’ display names and roles. Treat its invitation code as a way to share access. Do not put private information in playlist names, track titles or your display name.

Connections, security and reports

We use session and device identifiers, request information and limited security records to protect accounts, enforce permissions and limit abuse. When you report content, we store the report, the relevant playlist or participant identifiers, your explanation and the context needed to review it. Blocks are linked to your account or, where applicable, a guest’s device identity.

Participants may exchange playlist updates directly using WebRTC. This can expose network addresses to other connected participants and the connection service. The current connection service uses Google STUN. Audio and video are not relayed through PartyOnTube’s server. Hosting and email delivery are provided through Oderland infrastructure.

YouTube and Google

PartyOnTube uses YouTube’s embedded player and related video services. Videos, thumbnails and player resources are requested from Google/YouTube. These requests can disclose your IP address, device and browser information, the video requested and the site’s origin. YouTube may use cookies or similar technologies and show advertising. The privacy-enhanced player domain does not mean that no information reaches Google.

In supported Android WebViews, YouTube may also receive app and device integrity information, including the app identifier, version and signing certificate information. Text searches in the mobile apps open YouTube in your browser. Google’s processing is explained in its Privacy Policy; YouTube’s Terms of Service also apply. PartyOnTube does not request access to your Google account or YouTube account.

On your device

Necessary cookies support login, playlist permissions and abuse prevention. Account sessions expire after 30 days without automatic extension. A device cookie can remain for up to one year. Local storage keeps recent playlists and preferences such as volume; session storage helps restore the same tab. The native apps use their system WebView’s storage and local settings.

The iOS QR scanner processes camera images on the device and does not upload or save them. A link saved through the iOS share extension stays locally until it is opened in PartyOnTube or replaced. You choose a playlist and confirm before adding it. No location, address-book access or separate analytics/advertising SDK is implemented in the native apps. YouTube’s processing is separate, as described above.

Why we process data

Account, login and playlist processing is necessary to provide the service you request. Security, abuse prevention and moderation support our legitimate interests in keeping the service safe and reliable. We may also need to process information to meet legal obligations or handle legal claims. We do not sell your personal information.

How long information stays

Accounts, saved playlists and joined-playlist history remain until you remove them or request account deletion. Leaving a playlist does not delete its contributions or the saved playlist. Removing a playlist from normal use is distinct from erasing account data.

Login and deletion verification links expire after 15 minutes. Temporary connection messages and command records are eligible for routine cleanup after three minutes and one hour respectively; inactive participant records after seven days. Cleanup runs with service traffic, so these are eligibility periods rather than guarantees of immediate erasure.

Reports, blocks and related security records are retained while needed to manage the report, enforce the block or restriction, investigate abuse or handle a legal obligation or claim. Restricted backups support recovery and are reviewed when handling deletion requests. We do not describe session expiry or closing the app as deletion of all stored records.

Your choices and rights

Use My account to change your display name or log out. Use Blocked users to review and remove your blocks. You can clear local app/browser data through your device settings; this does not delete your server account.

Request account deletion here, including after uninstalling the app. The process asks for fresh email verification and a separate confirmation. Your account, owned playlists and associated data are reviewed for deletion, including older contributions and restricted backups. Icey AB completes confirmed requests within 30 days and confirms by email. Other people’s playlists remain.

Contact us to request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. We may need to verify your identity. You can complain to Sweden’s Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) or your local data protection authority.

Google services may process information outside your country, including outside the EEA, under the safeguards described in Google’s privacy information. Contact Icey AB for information about the service providers and safeguards applicable to your PartyOnTube data.
